Arthur Blitz Obituary
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Arthur Hart Blitz, of Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband of Mimi Blitz; devoted father of Leslie M. (Steven) Hertz, Robin H. Blitz, and Mickey Blitz; loving brother of Audrienne Levene; cherished grandfather of Sammy Hertz. Also survived by extended family Julia, Raul and Wendy Letim, and Rosa Torres.
He is a graduate of the University of Virginia with JD and Master's degrees in law from George Washington University. He was a captain in the US Army JAG Corps.
Arthur was a partner at the Paley Rothman Law Firm in Bethesda, and former president of the BCC Chamber of Commerce, the Bethesda-Potomac Rotary Club, the Men's Club of the Hebrew Home, and the Parent-Teachers Association of the Stephen Knolls School. He was a former long-term board member of Woodmont Country Club and a devoted member of the Keepers. He loved his family, dogs, golf, and the Washington Nationals.
Arthur leaves behind countless friends and admirers, who benefited from Arthur's good will and good heart, and delighted in his magic tricks and endless supply of really funny jokes.
Funeral services to be held Monday, October 9, 2017, 10:30am at Congregation Beth El, 8215 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD with interment to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD. Family will be receiving friends through Friday evening, October 13th and holding Shiva Minyan at 7pm on Monday, October 9th and Tuesday, October 10th. Memorial contributions may be made to CHI, Inc., 10501 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20903 or the Montgomery County Humane Society, 601 S. Stonestreet Ave, Rockville, MD 20850.
