Fran Fine Goldberg passed away on January 31, 2018 at the age of 68, after a multi-year battle with cancer. She was born on May 8th, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY, to Solomon Fine and Sylvia Reiter. Fran graduated with highest honors from Vassar in May, 1970, with a degree in Mathematics. After marrying in June of 1970, Fran and husband Michael moved to San Francisco, where Fran pursued an MS in Engineering and Computer Science from Berkley, and later a job at Pacific Gas & Electric, programming in FORTRAN and COBOL. Upon returning from the West Coast, Fran took a position at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Bethesda, Maryland, where she worked for the next 39 years in the areas of IT infrastructure and strategic planning. Fran was consistently recognized for outstanding performance, including receiving the NRC's Meritorious Service Award. She retired in 2015 as a member of the Senior Executive Service. She leaves behind her husband Michael, son David (wife Maricor Santiago), two grandsons Joshua (6) and Noah (4 months), and her sister-in-law Ceil Goldberg. A memorial service will be held in March.
