Steven A. Winkelman, a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 at age 89. Steve, an outstanding lawyer, was a forerunner in modern estate planning. He also was a law professor at Georgetown Law School for 30 years. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in DC. and graduated from The Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania and the Georgetown Law School, where he also received his LLM in Taxation. Steve practiced law in the District of Columbia and Maryland for over 50 years and served as the president of the D.C. Bar Association. He was a fellow of the American College of Probate Counsel and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Sought after by family, friends, and clients for his on-point advice, people were drawn to Steve's compassion and commitment. Steve was an avid tennis player, with his always unique personal style. Anne, his beautiful wife of 64 years, loved her "Mr. Wonderful", and he was eternally devoted to her. A beloved father of four, Susan Hock (Alan), Nancy Winkelman, John Winkelman, and Michael Winkelman (Donna), Steve is also survived by six grandchildren and his devoted sister, Ann Brown (Don). Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Garden of Remembrance, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
