Elaine Daniels

With heavy hearts and sincere gratitude for a life well lived, we share that our Mom, and Bubbe, Elaine Esther Daniels, passed peacefully in her home, early Monday, March 18, 2024, while under hospice care with JSSA.

Elaine lived 91 beautiful years of life, filled with family, community and love surrounding her. She gave tirelessly to her children, grandchildren, family, friends and community spanning over 40 years in the Bowie Nevey Shalom community (the Bowie Jews) and the last 18 in Leisure World of Maryland.

She was predeceased by her late husband, Jerry H. Daniels, Dad, Papoo, in 2019, and her brother Norman in 2017.  She is survived by daughters Lisa and Jill, and grandsons Jacob and Josh, and other loving family members.

Elaine grew up in The Bronx, NY, attended Queens College, and was a swim counselor at Camp Louise. She married Jerry in 1955 and gave birth to daughters, Lisa and Jill.  They moved to Bowie, Maryland and joined the Bowie Jews. She was known fondly as the energizer bunny as she was always doing, volunteering, and helping those in her life. In later years she worked outside the home to ensure she could send us to college.

She loved travel, theatre, swimming, baking, reading, conversing with friends, and doting on her grandsons.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, 10 a.m. at Judean Chapel, in Olney Maryland, with burial to follow at 12 noon at Mt Lebanon Cemetery in Adelphi MD.

We will be accepting visitors at the home of Jill Myers, Thursday following the burial until 5:30pm with Minyan Thursday evening at 7:30pm. Shiva will resume Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with Minyan at 7:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the JSSA, or Camps Airy and Louise.
