Edward Samuel Jurgrau was born August 29, 1940 in the Bronx, NY to Milton and Annie Jurgrau and was one of three children; his brother , Joseph Jurgrau and his recently departed sister, Shirley Deber. Edward is a United States Army veteran and served his county honorably and with pride. On November 23rd, 1963, he married Norma Karen Libber in Silver Spring , Maryland. Edward was happily married for over 50 years to Norma. Founder of Shoe Train shoe store in Potomac, Maryland , Edward found his life’s passion in making differences for children, especially children with special needs. In 2005, Edward was awarded Rotarian of the Year award by The Rotary Club of Potomac for his service. In 2008, he was recognized by former Montgomery county executive, Ike Leggette , in recognition of his generous support to providing free shoes to Montgomery County Child Welfare services. In 2011, Shoe Train was awarded the Nancy Dworkin Outstanding Service Award to Youth. Edward is preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma and his sister, Shirley Deber. He is survived by his sons, Jeff and Scott Jurgrau, his daughter-in-laws, Jennifer and Lora and his grandson, Christopher. The family asks that contributions be made to Montgomery County Child Welfare services or the 4 Wheel to Heal veterans organization .
