On October 8, 2018 Enid Gershen died peacefully at home, surrounded by members of her family.Enid was born in Newark, NJ, graduated with honors from Weequahic High School, and cum laude from Antioch College. She served several years as the Montgomery County Ombudsman for the division of drug prevention, and for more than a decade on the Montgomery County Youth Workers Training Committee. In 1980, she and a colleague created The Foundation for Health Education, committed to developing new techniques for teaching children about physical and mental wellness. After years of development, the Foundation shared their unique ideas with similar organizations across the country, many of which incorporated them into their own programs.Enid was considerate of everyone she met. She was the kindest individual most of us have ever known. She will be missed by her husband Bart of 63 years, adoring children Jill, Cindy, and David, her loving grandson Jake, her sister Judy, and her son-in-law Mark (Shuman). Enid did not wish to be memorialized in any special way. Her family wishes that she never be forgotten.She was laid to rest on October 12, 2018 at the Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD.Donations in her memory may be given to your favorite charity.
