Frances Schwartz Edlow, 99, of Bethesda, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Edlow lived an active and adventurous life, and was proud of her family and her many personal accomplishments. Formerly of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mrs. Edlow became a world traveler and with her husband, Samuel Edlow, visited the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, and the base of Mt. Sinai in Israel. In 1998, she and Mr. Edlow received the Yad Torah Award from the Foundation for Jewish Studies for their contributions to Jewish religious education.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Edlow International, the family business, and after her retirement was active for many years in the League of Women Voters. She crocheted beautiful blankets to welcome many new babies of family and friends, and enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Mrs. Edlow is preceded in death by Samuel Edlow, her husband of sixty-five years. She is survived by sons Jack and Robert, and by her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10:30 am at Congregation Beth El, 8215 Old Georgetown Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814. Interment King David Memorial Park, Fall Church, VA. Contributions may be made to League of Women Voters.
