Phyllis was born in Providence RI. Her Mother was the late Anna Rubenstein Adelman and her Father was the late Abraham Adelman. She graduated high school in Providence and was married to Harvey Chernov producing two sons whom she raised largely on her own. She joined the Federal government in 1975 and although she did not have the college degree that most of her colleagues possessed, She rose quickly through the ranks. In 1978, she met Richard Weller and they were almost inseparable, thereafter marrying him in 1982.
In 2003, Phyllis retired from the federal government and joined her husband in his businesses. She managed the administrative portions of the business and she was involved in the apartment leasing segment of his business. She truly enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard of 35 years, her adoring sons, David and Jeffery (Yelena), two grandchildren, Hannah and Blake and many cousins. She was predeceased by her younger sister Hope Adelman of Providence. Phyllis died the way she lived with dignity and grace.
The family of Phyllis Sondra Weller will be observing Shiva at the home of Geoffrey Chernov, Shiva will resume at the home of Richard Weller Wednesday, March 1st. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
