Ron Harris of Waldorf, Maryland passed away August 16, 2018. He was born on September 12, 1953 in Sandy Spring, MD. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty and his father, Lewis. Ron is survived by Patti, his wife of 28 years and constant companion for 32 years.
Ron and Patti met at The Country Junction in Rockville, MD in 1986. They got married July 28, 1990 on the same dance floor where they first danced. They joined the Country Junction Dancers and traveled the country competing as a group along with competitive couples dancing.
When they weren't working, they were dancing or practicing dancing! Ron would practice the routines while he was brushing his teeth!
Ron had always wanted to own a bar so Ron and Patti bought Spurs and their favorite part of owning the business was teaching people to dance.
Eventually Ron and Patti started teaching other people the art of country dancing. Ron wore the microphone and Patti was his not so silent partner and instructor! They developed a banter that people loved and sometimes came just to hear them lovingly disagree!
Ron (and Patti) opened a dance studio in Merrifield, VA called Dancin' Country. They started teaching at Spurs Country Niteclub at about the same time. They spend a lot of time on the beltway during those days!
After they sold Spurs, Ron became a Realtor. He was nicknamed "Mr Patience" due to his calm demeanor and endless patience. Ron's mantra was to treat others as he would like to be treated. You can see from the personal comments how much everyone loved and respected him.
Ron is also survived by a large extended family and many friends who loved him dearly. One of Ron's oldest friendships may have begun before birth. Trisha's mother and Ron's mother were friends before and during their pregnancies and fostered a lifetime friendship with their children. They grew up in Potomac together (they would say, when Potomac was poor!).
Ron had an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up any room. The world lost a very bright light on August 16, 2018.
