Alfred Levine was born in Albany NY on April 28, 1925 to Reuben and Ethel Levine. Al graduated from Cornell with an electrical engineering degree, and after receiving his doctorate in electrical from RPI, Al attended George Washington University law school and practiced patent law for 25 years. At age 55, Al retired from his law practice to pursue another career in inventing.
The U.S. Patent Office issued Al more than 95 patents on everything from the electronic typewriter to maps on cell phones. Most of Al's patents were infringed upon and he filed suit for recovery from more than 400 companies including IBM, Xerox, AT&T, Spint, Verizon, Nikon, Canon, Blackberry, T-Mobile, Hewlett Packard, the US government, Motorola, Apple, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and a host of others. Al won every case. Al passed on August 22, 2019 at the age of 94, and is survived by his wife Deena, three sons, Jeffrey of North Potomac, Md, Eric of Stroudsburg, Pa, and Lewis of Columbia, Md., as well as five grandchildren, Joshua of North Potomac, Md, Evan of North Potomac, Md, Aaron of Rockville, Md, Sarah of Philadelphia, Pa, and Benjamin of Stroudsburg, Pa. Al is also survived by his great grandson Solomon of North Potomac, Md.
