Love that is deep and pure will never be forgotten. Alice Louise (nee Jordan) Gritz - loving wife, and devoted partner to Herman Gritz, cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2022 in Silver Spring, Maryland at the age of 90. She was surrounded by family. Adored by all who knew her, she leaves a legacy of warmth, love and kindness that will never be forgotten.

An avid bird-lover, Alice created a back-yard sanctuary where her birds could eat and play. Her special red hummingbird feeder sat right outside the kitchen window so she could talk to them while drinking her morning coffee. She adored animals, especially her pets like her dogs Spike and Daisy, her pet parakeet. Animals were drawn to her and when she sat, her lap was always full.

Alice enjoyed attending Maryland Basketball games, spending long summer days at the backyard pool with family and friends, traveling with the gang to Florida, spending time at the Delaware shore with her family, reading books and showering love on everyone she met. Alice also treasured keeping in touch with her extended family and the close connections she had with them. She devoted her life to her family, and they were her greatest joy.

Born on January 3, 1932, in Annapolis Maryland, she is predeceased by her parents, Warren Drysdale Jordan and Virginia Adele (nee Robbins) Jordan and sisters Norma Jeanne Green, Virginia May Storton, Phebe Adele Jandrall and Shirley Ann McDonald. She is survived by her husband Herman Gritz, her children Marc Gritz, Shawn Gritz (Abby), Julie Gritz Coe (Alan), and her beloved grandchildren Brandon and Ryan Gritz, Joshua, Bradley and Alison Gritz, and Reece and Riley Coe.

A private graveside service was held with a memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue charity of your choice.
