Obituary

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, Anita Graber died at her home in Silver Spring, Md. A long-time resident of New York City, Anita was born October 29, 1925, in Berlin, Germany. The daughter of Elliot and Cesia Olejer, she arrived in the United States with her parents and her brother, Peter, in August 1939. She graduated from Hunter College, where she studied French, Spanish and German languages and literatures, and later earned a master's degree in education from Queens College. She worked as a buyer in the garment industry before becoming a junior high school language teacher in the New York City public school system. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jay Graber, her daughter Phyllis Graber Jensen and son-in-law Hilmar Jensen, her son Norman Graber and son-in-law Jack Mackler, her grandchildren Elana Graber, Brian Graber and Cassandra Jensen, and her brother Peter Olejer. A flaming redhead who evolved into a strawberry blonde, she made every day an adventure. Her loving family grieves her passing. A memorial service will be held Today-Monday, September 27 - 2 PM at The Judean Memorial Chapel 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, Md. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the residence of Norman Graber. Then Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM at the Jay Graber residence. Tuesday evening at 7 PM - at the residence of Norman Graber; Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the residence of Jay Graber; Saturday evening (October 2nd) at the residence of Norman Graber; Sunday afternoon (October 3rd) at the Jay Graber residence from 1-3 PM, then Sunday evening at 7 PM at the Norman Graber residence.
