IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbra Jane
Klubes
August 24, 1935 – October 1, 2022
Barbra Jane Klubes, 87, of Rockville passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was born to the late John and Myrtle Ballantine in Youngstown, Ohio on August 24, 1935, and grew up in nearby Poland, Ohio.
Jane received her B.S. degree in Chemistry/Biology in 1957 from the Lake Erie College in Ohio. Early in her career, she was a Laboratory Research Technician at Harvard Medical School where she met her future husband of 58 years, Philip Klubes. She and Phil eventually moved to Kensington, Maryland in 1967. Jane was an active volunteer at her sons' public schools, eventually being employed by Montgomery County Public Schools for 7 years. She then returned to her scientific roots by working in an American Red Cross laboratory for 14 years before retiring.
Jane very much enjoyed knitting, baking, reading, basketball, football and her family's annual summer vacation to Nags Head, North Carolina, a 40-year tradition, where they met with old friends and regularly made new ones. She was deeply involved in her community and her sons' public schools while they were students. She enjoyed spending time with her family—especially her three beloved grandchildren.
Jane is survived by her loving husband, Philip Klubes; sons, Benjamin (Risa Bender) Klubes and David (Felisa) Klubes; grandchildren, Sophia, Josh, and Sam; granddog, Rory; her nephew James (Lisa) Ballantine of Santa Barbara, California, son of her late brother John Ballantine, his late wife Jane and her brother's late son, her nephew Brian, along with many other family members and friends.
Memorial gifts can be made to MANNA Food Center of Montgomery County ( mannafood.org ).
