Obituary

Barry Mourad, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on October 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in 1942, Barry was the youngest of four boys and a man whose life was defined by his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with those around him.

Barry spent his career working as an auto mechanic, a fitting career for someone who could fix just about anything. Naturally handy and endlessly resourceful, if he didn’t know how to do something, he would learn and made sure his two daughters grew up with that same mindset. In his younger years, he was a body builder and maintained a commitment to staying active. He also enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and cooking different types of food.

Barry had a special way of showing his love. A man of few words, he made sure the people around him knew they mattered through his thoughtful actions, sharing family video clips, music, and recipes regularly to put a smile on someone’s face. If you saw him in person, you would never walk out empty-handed, likely leaving with something he made because he knew you would like it. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. May his memory be a blessing.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Esther Mourad; his brother, Shabti Mourad; his daughter, Janet Clarke and son-in-law, Chris Clarke, and daughter, Laura Greenzaid and son-in-law, Joel Greenzaid; his grandchildren, Julia Harris (Nathan Harris), Jonathan Greenzaid, Jenna Greenzaid, Justin Greenzaid, Ariel Clarke, Zoe Clarke, and Noah Clarke; and his great grandchildren, Robbie and Sophie.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Mourad and Maury Mourad, and his parents, Fortunee and Abraham Mourad.

Funeral services were held on November 1, 2026, at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, Maryland.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington; the Jewish National Fund; or to a charity of your choice that will honor his memory. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
