On Monday, March 28, 2016; loving mother, doting grandmother, artist and author. Born in Berlin, Germany on December 10, 1928. She fled Nazi Germany in 1940; a journey chronicled in her memoir "Beate''s Transcontinental Journey: From Berlin to Brooklyn". Beatrice lived most of her life in New York City, working for the New York City College Library. In 1995, she moved to the Grosvenor Condominium in North Bethesda to be close to her family. She is a graduate of the City College of New York where she received a BA in English Literature with high honors. She is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Stephanie and grandchildren, Benjamin and Graham. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Parklawn Cemetery, 1200 Veirs Mill Rd., Rockville, MD 20853. Interment to follow. Shiva will be observed at the residence of Robert and Stephanie Soofer from 6 to 8 p.m.
