Obituary

On Sunday, July 2, 2023, Bette Jean Rosenstrom Taxman, of Rockville, MD passed away. Beloved wife of the late Theodore S. Taxman; devoted mother of Faye S Taxman (Sandy Ressler), Lisa Taxman Goldfarb (Danny Goldfarb), and Joy (Jeff) Bloomquist; loving sister of Terry (Gene) Kanter and Susie (George) Cohan; cherished grandmother of Liz (Ian) Clark, Joseph Ressler (Mariam Halata), Judith Goldfarb, Max Goldfarb, Isabelle Bloomquist and Theodore Bloomquist; great-grandmother of Jacob and Hannah Clark.

Bette was a R.N. who loved being a nurse and loved caring for others. She dedicated her life to being a good wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and nurse. She worked until she was 80 years old as a nurse. She was born in East St. Louis, lived in St. Louis until the 1990's, and then moved to Maryland. She loved musicals and had a collection of videos which she watched endlessly. She was a true feminist, becoming a nurse in the 1950s when it was not fashionable and loved being independent.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, 1 p.m. at Judean Chapel with interment to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens. Shiva will be held at Faye Taxman and Sandy Ressler's home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to the Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing ( foundationbarnesjewish.org ) [where she went to nursing school] or Planned Parenthood ( plannedparenthood.org ).
