IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole Ruth
(Nee Goldberg) Jason
February 29, 1936 – October 22, 2024
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, Carole Ruth Jason (nee Goldberg), beloved wife of the late Larry Jason, devoted mother of Seth (Katherine) Jason and Julie (Michael) Marquis, of Edgewater, MD, previously of Silver Spring, MD, passed away surrounded by family.
Carole was the loving sister of the late Isabel (Sonny) Winters; cherished grandmother of Hannah (Daniel) Endy and Leah Marquis (Ben Lorber) and many fur babies; adoring Great-Grandmother of Camellia and Micah Endy. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, six nieces and nephews and their spouses/partners and five great-nieces and nephews. Carole also had many, many loving friends that she considered to be family.
Carole was a native of Brooklyn, NY, and a Leap Year Baby, born on February 29, 1936. She moved to the Washington, DC, Metro area at age 19 when she married her one and only love, Larry. As two New Yorkers in a new city, they answered a newspaper advertisement to help establish a new Reform Congregation, Temple Shalom, which eventually broke ground in Chevy Chase, MD, the same place it exists today. As founding members, they became involved in the Sisterhood and Brotherhood organizations, met their closest life-long friends, and celebrated many simchas there. Carole also prepared many meals for S.O.M.E. and volunteered to cheer on thousands of participants in the AVON Walks for Breast Cancer in D.C. and NYC. Carole was a skilled secretary and administrative assistant, working for the Social Security Administration and the National Institutes of Health over her 24 years of federal service. After retiring, Carole and Larry enjoyed many years of travel, volunteering at the Smithsonian Institution Castle, and being doting grandparents.
