Dr. Constance Margaret Hall passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, at the age of 85. Margaret was the beloved wife of Robert Theodore Cole, who passed away in 2013. She was the devoted mother of Elizabeth Cole Bangser, Tanya Cole-Lesnick, and Jamy Cole-Judd. She was also survived by sons-in-law Paul Bangser and Steve Lesnick (Jamy's husband, Cary Judd, passed away in 2016), and grandchildren Cole Judd, Emma Lesnick, Molly Lesnick, Jonathan Bangser, Kevin Judd, Seth Bangser, and Sydney Judd. Margaret was born in Bury, Lancashire, England on August 11, 1937. She was an only child, raised in Bury by her parents, John and Madeline Hall. After a brief stint in England as a teacher, she studied sociology at universities in London, Paris, Brussels, New York, and Washington, D.C, ending with a master's degree and doctorate in sociology from American University. She immigrated to the United States in 1962. Dr. Hall was a Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she had been a member of the faculty for 48 years (from 1970-2018)! She chaired the department of sociology 1976 to 1980 and 1983 to 1989; and she directed Women's Studies 1993 to 1996. She wrote and published multiple professional books and articles, as well as a number of books of poetry—approximately 20 books in all. She was a feminist from an early age and was ahead of her time. She demonstrated strength and integrity and loved her family fiercely. She stayed connected to her English roots throughout her entire life.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 22nd, at 1:00 pm at Garden of Remembrance, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871.

The family will be sitting Shiva that evening at 7:00 pm at the home of Elizabeth and Paul Bangser.
