David J Bennett, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2025, in Rockville, Maryland. David was born August 25, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY where he grew up. He attended The Cooper Union and the University of Minnesota where he studied architecture. He was an accomplished architect and was a Professor of Architecture at the University of Minnesota, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the principal of the architecture and engineering firm BRW in Minneapolis, Minnesota from the 1970s until the 1990s. He designed many prominent commercial buildings including the award winning Civil Mineral Engineering building at the University of Minnesota, which incorporated cutting edge technology related to earth sheltered design. It was awarded the Civil Engineer's Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement in 1983. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Bennett, his son-in-law Michael Dinces and his two beautiful grandchildren, Owen and Lila Dinces of Bethesda, MD. His wife, Judith D Bennett, passed away in 2021.
