IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David
Sussman
September 21, 1948 – June 19, 2021
David Neil Sussman, 72, of Potomac, MD, unexpectedly died on June 19th after a long battle with illness. His bravery and good spirits in the face of most difficult times were noted, appreciated and provided an example of strength by his huge group of friends. David is survived by his loving wife Janet of Potomac and loving sister Eileen (Jeff Waxman) of Bethany Beach, DE. He was the beloved son of Herman and Audrey Sussman, deceased, of Washington, DC.
David spent his entire life in and around the Washington area and became well known as the leader of his long-time band "The Fabulous Fantoms" playing at every celebration and venue imaginable. As a result of his band, coupled with a dear, sweet, gentle disposition, David's group of friends was numbered in the hundreds, perhaps more! He maintained friendships from grade school, middle school, high school and throughout the many years of his life…remarkable in today's speed of change world.
Even facing a most difficult illness, David maintained an optimism and happy outlook, making plans for his and Janet's next phase of life. And, on good days, he continued to work, to meet friends for lunch and to plan dinners and fun days ahead. David leaves a large group of family, cousins by blood and cousins by love, who will miss him dearly. We will raise many a glass in his honor and to his memories. Godspeed and calm seas, rest easy.
Celebration of life will be held Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-9 at home in Potomac, MD. A memorial service will be announced in the future.
