Deborah (Debbie) Malcha Golub Leibowitz

Debbie was a brilliant educator who lovingly improved the lives of so many elementary school children, as well as the teachers she mentored. "Mrs. Leibowitz" shared her enthusiasm for teaching and learning for 35 years, including 23 with Montgomery County Public Schools. "Kind" is the first word most people use to describe her, as she always wanted others to know they were special. She loved being surrounded by friends and family and sharing stories, games and laughter. She was an avid reader, a recreational bridge player, and life-long friend to her girl scout clique. Debbie was very involved with her synagogue, Beth El, and even wrote the Haggadah for their women's seder. She was dedicated to her Judaism and passionate about passing down her traditions and values to future generations.

Debbie was the devoted mother of Paula (Danny) Sayag and David (Myriam) Leibowitz, and the loving sister of Judith Halpern. She is also survived by 6 grandsons, Jason (Haley), Benjamin (Alexa), Jonathan (Avigail), Eitan, Aaron, and Eric (Madelyn) and 3 great grandchildren, Brody, Stevie Rose, and Elle.

Funeral services will be held at Judean Gardens in Olney, MD on Monday, November 27 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive visitors immediately following interment, and there will be a 4:30 service. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the family will welcome visitors at 5:30, and there will be a service at 7 pm. Shiva will be at the home of Paula and Danny Sayag, 2604 Brighton Dam Road, Brookeville, MD.
