Eugene B. Heimberg (91) died peacefully at home on July 28, 2025 — less than a week before what would have been his 92nd birthday.  Born in Newark, New Jersey on August 3, 1933 to Joseph and Mary Heimberg, Eugene (Gene) graduated from Weequahic High School and Rutgers University — playing basketball at both — before embarking on a long career at the Prudential Insurance Company, where he held a series of increasingly responsible executive positions. In addition to having a successful career, Gene found the time to be a dedicated husband and father.  He was also passionate about his leisure activities, which included cards, golf, tennis as well as being a die-hard sports fan — especially of the New York football Giants!  Gene was survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Janet, his sons Scott (Juliet) and Gary (Amy), grandchildren Rachel (Bryan), Nikki, Allison (Jonathan) and Lauren (Logan) as well as great granddaughter Harper (who managed to bring a smile to his face until the very end) and a sister, Maidie Schwartz. A private immediate family-only service was held at Gene's home in Park Potomac, with shiva having immediately followed.  Stories from those who knew him are welcome on this site. Donations in memory of Gene can be made to any of the three charities listed below- all of which are very important to our family.
