IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Florence Kahn
Allentuck
March 11, 1925 – October 8, 2022
Florence "Flossie" Kahn Allentuck (nee: Kaufman) passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022 in Bethesda, Maryland. She was 97 years old.
Born and raised in Baltimore, her parents were the late Rhae Needle Kaufman and Carl Kaufman. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson high school in Washington, DC and Moore College of Art in Philadelphia.
In 1946 she married the love of her life, Joseph "Buddy" Kahn, and together they raised two devoted daughters who considered her their best friend: Cathy Kahn Kwart (Arnold Kwart) of Bethesda and Patti Kahn of Boca Raton, Florida.
After the death of her first husband, she married David Allentuck and enjoyed 17 sweet and loving years together before his death in 2010.
Appreciated by family and friends alike as a funny, beautiful, and an exuberant force - despite her diminutive stature, she was known in the art world as an amazingly talented sculptor and painter. She was also a suburb cook and baker, and a voracious reader with an impeccable sense of style who was treasured as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to those who knew her and are left to mourn her passing.
An avid golfer, canasta and mahjong player, she belonged to Woodmont Country Club, was a life-long member of the Sisterhood of Washington Hebrew Congregation, and a supporter of classical and modern ballet in the Washington area.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the four years of compassionate care given to her at LARMAX Seven Locks home, with special thanks to Gina Chandler for her love, devotion, and support above the call of duty.
Memorial donations in Flossie's name may be made to Children's Inn at NIH childrensinn.org/ways-to-give , or Hope Connections for Cancer Support, hopeconnectionsforcancer.org .
Internment and a celebration of Flossie's life will be postponed and determined at a later date.
