Florence L. Kamm, RN, Ph.D. born June 25, 1925 died peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Dr. Kamm was born in Brooklyn, NY. She was the middle of three children, had an older brother and younger sister.

After graduating from High School, she worked at The Brooklyn Navy Yard, contributing to the U.S. Defense Supplies Effort. In 1945, Florence enrolled in The U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps and was honored when enrolled in The Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1948 and earned her R.N. license that year. Her carer included several years of nursing services at mt. Sinai Hospital, while attending graduate school.

In 1960, Florence and husband, Dr. Ernest Kamm (d.1999) and two children moved to Maryland. She continued her graduate studies and earned her Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in 1984.

In 2015, after twenty-five years of teaching and consulting, Florence retired as Clinical Director of Crossway Community, Inc., Kensington, Maryland.

Her many interests included, studying and applying Bowen Family Systems Theory, reading, poetry, writing articles, as well as a love of opera and theater.

Her survivors include her daughter, Enid F. Williams (Kermit); her son Ted J. Gurevitz (Belinda); five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2023, 11 a.m. at Crossway Community, Inc., 3015 Upton Drive, Kensington, MD 20895. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, 1 p.m. at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
