GASTON OXMAN (Age 72) Passed away September 7, 2011 in Tel Aviv, Israel. Born September 15, 1938 in Santiago, Chile. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rina Belinki Oxman, five children and four grandchildren. Devoted father of Joyce Misrahi, London, U.K., Alan Oxman, New York, NY, Oren Oxman, Rockville, MD, Daniel Oxman, Los Angeles, CA and Ariel Oxman, New York, NY. "Abuelo" to Joyce's children Simon, Max, Daniel and Elijah. Known for his sense of humor, outgoing personality and love of life, he overcame numerous cancers over the last two decades and became active in the cancer support community. He passed away without cancer and was an inspirational cancer survivor. He was a Professor and Director of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Santiago in Chile, served in senior capacities with the Pan American Health Organization and was a consultant and entrepreneur. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Santiago, Chile and the University of California, Berkeley and a PhD in Engineering from the University of Santa Maria, Chile. The funeral will be held on September 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Gan Hazikaron in Clarksburg, MD. The family will sit shiva at their home in Rockville, MD on September 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to www.caringforcarcinoid.org in his name.
