It is with great sadness that we share the news that your dear friend, Fred Silver, passed away peacefully last night, surrounded by the love of his family, on June, 4, 2026.

Beloved husband of Nona Silver and devoted father of Loree, Scott and Aine, Jeff and Connie, and Todd and Wendy Silver; Loving brother of Bookie Greene; Cherished grandfather of Daniell, Claire, Patrick, Amanda, Andie, and Justin; Also survived by loving family, friends, and members of the community.

Fred's final chapter was filled with many blessings. He was able to witness and celebrate several important family milestones, including Daniell and Danny's marriage on May 4th and Amanda and Andie's college graduations. He was determined to be present for these special moments, and we are deeply grateful that he was able to share them with his loved ones before experiencing a rapid decline in his health.

Fred made a lifelong commitment to staying physically and mentally active. In his words, he always wanted to “Make it Happen.” Even into his 80s, he continued to play basketball weekly and remained deeply involved in serving his community. Over the years, he dedicated countless hours to organizations including the Olney Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, AWL, Boys Home, Rebuilding Together and MedStar Hospital, where he also received compassionate care during his final days.

While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Fred was surrounded by love from Nona, his children, grandchildren, and extended family. We will remember the long, beautiful life he lived—a life filled with friendship, service, laughter, and treasured memories. We know many of you shared decades of friendship with Fred, and we are grateful for the love and support you have shown him throughout the years.

In keeping with the Jewish faith, burial takes place as soon as possible following a passing. We respectfully ask for your understanding and privacy as our family mourns and prepares for Sunday's service. The Silver Family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
