H. Andrew Schwartz from Bethesda, MD passed away July 16, 2025 at the age 56. He was the beloved husband of Amy Goldberg and devoted father to Benjamin, Eli, and Daniel Schwartz. Andrew lived for his family and will have a remarkable and lasting legacy through their beautiful lives.

Son of Joseph Schwartz and Shirley Schwartz of blessed memory, loving brother of Nancy Schwartz, and step son of Anne Weiss, Andrew is survived by hundreds of friends from Tulane University and Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT). He is also survived by a large extended family in Cleveland, OH.

Andrew earned a B.A. in political science from Tulane University and then obtained an M.A. in broadcast journalism and public policy from American University. He was an avid reader with a passion for education and a life long learner. He was a proud and involved father during his children's time at Sidwell Friends School especially Sidwell Football.

Andrew had a robust career with many influential and impactful positions. He has written for The Washington Post, The Washington Times, and other national newspapers and magazines.

Andrew was a highly respected communications professional in Washington, DC and was the Chief Communications Officer at the Center for Strategic International Studies after an impressive 20 years of dedication. In addition to his impressive professional accomplishments, Andrew was extremely generous with his time and talents to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and mentoring 100s of young professionals.

Andrew was remarkably vivacious and passionate. He was happiest by water whether swimming laps at the pool or enjoying time at the ocean. He was a lover of New Orleans, with a robust knowledge of its food, culture, and especially music. Andrew was also obsessed with the Ravens and Orioles, something he shared with both his father and his sons. Andrew was larger than life and filled every room he walked into with his unique and powerful energy. Our hearts will remain filled with memories of incredible conversations and his joyous laughter. His story was way too short, but it was truly an incredible one.

In lieu of flowers or food, memorial contributions can be made to Zeta Beta Tau and Tulane University's Newcomb School of Arts and Sciences. Shiva will be at the family home Sunday 6 to 8:30 p.m., Monday and Tuesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A 7 p.m. minyan will be held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
