Obituary

Harold Stanley Liebling passed away on September 22, 2020 at his residence in Silver Spring, MD at the age of 97. Harold was born on April 6, 1923 to Isadore and Elizabeth (nee Kaufman) Liebling in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO and went on to study at the University of Missouri in Columbia. During WWII he interrupted his college education to serve in the U.S. Air Force, then returned to the University of Missouri to earn his Bachelor Degree in public administration in 1947. On June 29, 1946 he married Marian Nelson, which began a 58-year long loving marriage.  A daughter, Pamela Ann was born to them in 1953.

Harold was an economist for the U.S. Department of Labor where he developed reports for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Harold was an avid and very competitive table tennis player during much of his life. He enjoyed chess, tennis, bridge and ballroom dancing.  He was a talented poet and wrote inspirational and poignant poetry at a very young age and throughout his entire life.

Tragically, his wife Marian passed away in 2004, and their daughter Pamela died in 2010.  Later in life, Harold found companionship with his special friend, Sara Fine. In addition to his wife and daughter, Harold was predeceased by his parents and sister Charlotte Slotsky. He is survived by his niece Marilyn (Craig) Jensen; nephews Jeff (Peggy) Slotsky and Don Slotsky; several grandnieces and grandnephews, and his special friend Sara Fine.

There will be a private interment in Olney MD. at Judean Memorial Gardens.
