HARRIET R. STERN Passed away on June 1, 2015 at Suburban Hospital. Loving wife of the late Arthur M. Stern for 67 years. Loving mother of Linda and David Stern and Debbie (Damon) Sutton; loving grandmother of Stephanie Stern, Jarod and Brianna Sutton. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 29, 1925 to Dr. Samuel and Bertha Cole. She received her under graduate and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois, majoring in microbiology. During World War II, she was Rosie the Riveter making aircraft parts. Her professional career included both clinical and administrative endeavors. She served as a Consultant for the National Institute for Cancer as well as serving as Project Manager at GE Laboratories and Prospect Consulting. Harriett's passion was her family as well as the pursuit of cultural activities including the arts and classical music. Her other great joy was expanding her knowledge through continuing education classes at Johns Hopkins Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Services will be held Friday, June 5, 12:30 p.m. at Judean Memorial Garden Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd., Olney, MD 20832. with interment to follow.
