Helen Herson Baron of Silver Spring, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Irv Baron; devoted mother of Joanne (Dave) Hall, Mark Baron, and Michael Baron. Also survived by her granddaughters Rachel (Joe) Bucceri, Debbie (Clint) Brown, and eight great-grandchildren.
Helen was born in Washington, DC to Robert and Yetta Herson where she resided with her sister and two brothers. As a young girl, she worked at her father's store, Herson's Auto Glass. She also studied opera in school where she sang all of the leads in the musical productions. She also entertained the troops at the USO in Washington, DC by singing the songs of Gilbert & Sullivan. Helen worked alongside her husband at their store, D.G.S. Market in Washington, DC and when asked what gives her the most joy in life, she would respond, "the love of family".
A graveside service will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, 9304 Adelphi Road, Adelphi, MD 20783. Family will be observing Shiva Sunday evening at the residence of Joanne Hall in Bowie, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association,
