IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert Allen
Jolovitz
August 28, 1930 – July 16, 2025
Herbert Allen Jolovitz, of Bethesda, died at 94 on July 16, 2025. From Canton, Ohio, he was a Korean War veteran, serving as an Air Force JAG. After briefly practicing law in Canton, he moved to Washington, D.C. to serve as top aide to Senator Stephen Young of Ohio. He was then legislative liaison for the NCTA, top aide to Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, congressional liaison at USAID under former Ohio Governor John Gilligan, and finished his career as a lobbyist for Owens Corning.
He was unflinchingly honest, had a prodigious memory and was intensely curious about people and the world. A devoted husband of 66 years to his beloved Reva, he is survived by his children, Paul (Amy) and Jenna (Sean), his sister-in-law Helen, his adored granddaughter, Dora, and cherished nieces and nephews.
But what he'd most want you to know—based on the question he asked everyone—is that the longest river in the world is the Nile.
Contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
