Renee, the daughter of Murad and Rachel Marcus was born February 22, 1927 in Mexico City, Mexico. She was a middle child of Murad and Rachel's 6 children. She was raised and educated in Brooklyn, NY where she learned bookkeeping. An early job was keeping the books for her oldest brother's 6 hosiery stores. She went on to work for U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
In the early 1970's she went to college to hone her accounting skills before she started her own accounting business which kept her busy until she was in her late 80's. She was an active volunteer at B'nai Israel Congregation Hadassah, the Suburban Hospital Auxiliary, and spent many hours knitting for hospitalized children. As an original resident of the Wisconsin Condominiums, she was active in welcoming new residents and helped to provide welcome baskets.
Renee was blessed with four children and two grandchildren. Her life's work was as a loving parent and an indulgent and adoring grandparent. As the demands of parenting decreased, Renee loved to teach and play Mahjong and canasta. She was a terrific cook, avid reader and more recently, she enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, computer games and watching British telly.
Renee is lovingly remembered for her quick wit, resilient spirit, and fierce independence.
Renee is survived by her children Mitchell (Sue) Kuff of Gaithersburg, MD, David Kuff of Los Angeles, CA, Laurie (Tim) Freese of Leesburg, VA, and Cobey Kuff of Silver Spring, MD; two grandchildren, Marcus Kuff of Germantown, MD and Rachel Kuff of Washington D.C.; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
