Dr. Irwin Bauman of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2020 at the age of 92. Devoted husband of Penny Bauman, loving father of Melissa and David (Nancy) Bauman, adoring grandfather of Josh Bernstein, Amanda, Stephanie, and Jamie Bauman. Irwin was born in The Bronx, NY. He earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from CUNY and Doctor of Optometry from Columbia University, NY.  He proudly served the US Army during the Korean War. His optometry practice in Flushing Queens endeared him to many early contact lens adopters. He resided with his family in Bayside, Queens and then Roslyn, NY. Once retired, he spent time in Boynton Beach, Florida before relocating to Maryland. Graveside services were held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park in Clarksburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Nation Fund.
