James Mark Stein — known to everyone simply as Jimmy or Jim — left us far too soon at the age of 68, but he leaves behind a lifetime of laughter, warmth, and love.

A native Washingtonian who most recently called Boca Raton home, Jim built a respected career as a real estate and investment guru, but it was his giving heart, quick wit, and perpetual sense of humor that truly defined him. He never met a room he couldn't light up or a friend he couldn't make laugh, and he was beloved by everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jim passed peacefully, surrounded by the loving family and friends who meant everything to him.

He is survived by his cherished sister, Lynn R. Levitan; his loving brother, Richard E. Stein; his sons, Oliver and Kyle, who were the light of his life; his adoring step sister and brother-in-law, Sheree and Tom Spriggs; his devoted cousin, Susan B. Demers; and a wonderful, sprawling extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will all miss him more than words can say. 

Jim was reunited in passing with his loving mother, Lois B. Levitan; his devoted father, Stanley R. Stein; and his adoring brother, Alan J. Stein.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 3, 2026 at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec St. NW, Washington, DC 20008 with interment at King David Memorial Gardens, 2712 Hollywood Rd, Falls Church, VA 22042 following at 12:00 p.m.The family will receive visitors at the home of Susan B. Demers in Bethesda, Maryland from 2:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Mincha service will be at 3:00 p.m.
