Janet Irene Gorman on Monday, August 17, 2026, Janet Irene Gorman, of Silver Spring, Maryland, Beloved Wife of Barry Stephen Gorman; devoted mother of Eric Daniel Gorman (Niki Dodek) and Melissa Elaine Minkov; Cherished grandmother of Merrick Solomon Dodek Gorman and Adelyn Sylvie Dodek Gorman.

She was a lifelong enthusiast of music. Janet learned piano as a child and later clarinet, which she played throughout her life, including in the University of Kentucky pep band and later in community bands around the Washington, D.C., region. She discovered ukelele later in life and enjoyed playing with friends or just learning new songs on her own. She was devoted to all of her family – her parents, husband, son and daughter, grandchildren, and cousins. She also relished her work as a programmer first with NOAA and later with FAA and cherished the companionship of her coworkers. In retirement, she enjoyed giving tours of the Music Center at Strathmore Hall.

Funeral services will be held on 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at Norbeck Memorial Park
