IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerome Aaron
Yurow
March 11, 1941 – January 15, 2025
On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Jerome Aaron Yurow, affectionately known as "Jerry", of Rockville, MD passed away. Beloved father of Deborah Yurow, (Eric Euler) and A. P. Yurow, (Ayshan Abbasova); cherished grandfather of Josh and Paige Euler; also survived by his loving ex-wife, Jane Handler. Jerry shared 28 years of marriage with Jane. Together, they raised Deborah and Adam. Later in life, his heart grew even fuller with the addition of his son-in-law, Eric, and his beloved grandchildren, Josh and Paige.
Jerry was born March 11, 1941, in Washington, D.C; the only child of David and Ann Yurow. His intellect and drive were evident from an early age. He graduated from Yale University in 1962 with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and later earned a Master's in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Jerry's academic achievements led to a career as an Operations Research Analyst at the Department of Energy, where he dedicated over 30 years of service.
Jerry was an All-American swimmer and continued his practice in Masters' Swimming. He was an avid cyclist, loved to travel, and enjoyed photography. His trips, both near and far, reflected his curiosity and his appreciation for capturing the beauty around him.
Jerry faced life's challenges with courage and grace, inspiring those around him to do the same. He led by example, teaching us all the value of resilience and the importance of embracing life with joy and gratitude. Known for his quick wit, he was a master of puns and dad jokes. He brought laughter and warmth into every room he entered. His home was always open to friends and family from all walks of life, a testament to his welcoming spirit and generous heart. He will be remembered as a happy soul, a loving father, grandfather, friend, and a man who made the world a brighter place simply by being in it. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
