On May 20, 2025, Joan Roberta Dorf of Rockville, MD, born August 22, 1932, passed away surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Theodore "Ted" Dorf. Devoted mother of Mark Dorf and Caren (Zak Kreisman) Dorf; Cherished grandmother of Howie and Jesse; Caring aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Joan started her career at the Washington Times Herald; upon the birth of her daughter, she retired to be a full-time parent. When her children grew up, she went back to work as a fundraiser with the March of Dimes. She then went on to work at the Montgomery County Women's Commission and then ran the Clara Barton Senior Center. Joan also hosted radio shows at local stations. She was a passionate collector of oriental collectibles and a member of the International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2025, 2pm, at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, VA. The family will be observing Shiva at the home of Caren Dorf on Saturday and Sunday at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Jewish Health .
