Joan Herman of Owings Mills, Maryland passed away on March 10, 2024 at the age of 79.  Joan was born in New York on November 25, 1944 to Ernest and Miriam Ettlinger. She was the loving wife of the late William Herman, and is survived by her children Michael (Cheryl) Herman and Debbie (Shelby) Herman; her grandchildren Andrew (Amanda) Adams, Rachel Herman and Melissa Herman; and her sister Laura (Joseph) Nodelman.

Joan's greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was immensely proud of all of her children and grandchildren, and would happily brag about their accomplishments to anyone who would listen.  Joan was married to her husband William for 39 years, until his passing in 2003. They worked together to raise a family and, for many years, operated a successful business together. They also shared a passion for helping others and were very active with the New Jersey Jaycees/Jaycee-Ettes. Joan's exuberant passion for sports was unmatched, specifically in regards to her favorite team, the New York Mets. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Joan will be laid to rest at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, New Jersey on Tuesday March 12, 2024. Shiva will be observed at the home of Michael and Cheryl Herman on Thursday March 14, 2024 at 7:30 pm (mourners welcome at 7:00 pm).
