IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joel L
Rabovsky
September 16, 1947 – June 7, 2025
Dr. Joel Lawrence Rabovsky, of Olney, Maryland and Ocean View, Delaware, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 16, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, Joel was the beloved son of the late Harry and Ida Rabovsky.
He shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Trina Miller Rabovsky, and was a loving father to Michelle Keck (Jon) and Eric Rabovsky (Jodi). Joel was affectionately known as "Grumpy" by his grandchildren—Caitlyn Keck, Hannah Keck, Mason Angleberger, and Lena Angleberger—who adored him for his wit, warmth, and steady presence.
Joel earned a Ph.D. in Physics and spent his distinguished career as a Health Physicist with the Department of Energy. His work helped shape national radiation safety standards, particularly in the area of dosimetry. During the Iraq War, Joel was on call in the event of a nuclear incident—trusted for his calm expertise and dedication to public safety.
Known for his sharp intellect and even sharper sense of humor, Joel left an impression everywhere he went. He loved learning, lively conversation, and made every room a little brighter with his thoughtful, clever presence.
A service will be held in the Chapel at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, Maryland, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Shiva will follow at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Joel and Trina Rabovsky.
Joel's life was a testament to quiet strength, enduring love, and the profound impact one man can have on the lives of many. He will be missed beyond measure.
