IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Johanna Libby
Spitzer
June 10, 1992 – May 23, 2025
It is with sadness that we share the news of the loss of Johanna Libby Spitzer. On Friday, May 23rd, Johanna passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at home, with family nearby. Johanna was 18 days shy of her 33rd birthday.
Johanna was a longtime resident of Rockville, Maryland. She was a bright and joyful young woman who brought laughter and warmth wherever she went. Despite being born with an intellectual disability, she was inquisitive and engaged wherever she went. She was a great lover of animals; every dog that came her way was a "baby dog" that needed petting and cherishing. For several years, Johanna volunteered, caring for horses. Johanna loved to dance and enthusiastically embraced aerobic styles like Zumba. She also enjoyed kayaking, rock climbing, and swimming—activities in which she truly excelled.
She had a kind, amiable personality and would offer warm hugs to nearly everyone she met. Although she is no longer with us, the light she brought to each room she entered will forever remain within us.
Johanna is survived by her parents, Marian and Roy, as well as seven siblings, two nephews, and one niece.
A memorial service will be held on June 8th, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at The Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park in Clarksburg, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to KEEN , an organization that provides athletic programs to individuals with disabilities.
