Obituary

Judith Gelburd Treby dearly loved wife, mother, friend, and educator, died on Monday, October 5, surrounded by her family. Judy was the devoted daughter of the late Samuel and Cecil Gelburd, and is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Stuart, adored daughters Jill, Megan (Mandel Brown), and Allison (Keith) Harris, and cherished grandchildren Joshua, Ravyn, Andrew, and Jade, sister Eileen (Steven) Schonfeld, and bothers Kenneth (Caryl Oberman) Gelburd, and Lawrence (Anita) Gelburd, many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and loving extended family. She is a graduate of Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, NY, and received Bachelors and Masters degrees from SUNY Albany. Judy was a valued educator and Associate Principal of the Temple Beth Ami Religious School for 26 years, a member of several professional organizations dedicated to Jewish education, and an active member of Hadassah. Judy was known for her outgoing and generous spirit, and love of music. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road, Rockville MD. Internment following at the Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD. Shiva will be observed at the Treby home in North Potomac, MD, on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2-5 p.m., and minyan will begin at 7:30 p.m. each evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judy Treby Student Enrichment Fund at Temple Beth Ami.
