Obituary

Julian D Miller was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Charles and Etta Miller of New Haven, Connecticut. He grew up in West Haven, Connecticut, and married Susan Ross Levine of New Haven Connecticut in 1960. He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned his Masters of Engineering from Rensselaer Polytech. He served in the Army. Dave, as he was known to his friends, was a pioneer of the computing age. He helped program a lunar lander simulator for the Sikorski Corporation before most universities offered courses or degrees in computer science. His career included engineering and computer work for, among others, Link, General Electric, Computer Sciences Corporation, and Comso. He was devoted  to his family and raised two children, Karen and Ted,  in Gaithersburg Maryland. He loved architecture, engineering, design, and photography; he enjoyed sailing the Chesapeake and attending concerts with his wife and family. He was a regular volunteer serving the elderly throughout Montgomery County, and via the AARP Friendly Voice program. He assisted his wife in operating a small antiques business for many years in Frederick, MD.  He is survived by his two children Karen Rubinstein and Ted Miller, and their families (Alan Rubinstein, Terry Royed, Elana Rubinstein and her husband Ben Sigal, Michael Rubinstein, and great-grandchild Shai Sigal.)
