Laurie died peacefully on July 17, 2017 after a long courageous battle with complications from Frontotemporal Dementia first detected in 2010. Laurie died with her devoted and loving husband and son by her side. Laurie grew up in Portland, OR. Daughter of Arnold and Rosalie Davis. She graduated from the University of Oregon and had successful journalism and web design careers in Portland, OR, San Francisco, CA and Gaithersburg, MD. Laurie was a ray of sunshine. She exemplified vitality, generosity, joy for life and a riotous sense of humor. Laurie was a terrific skier and tennis, racquetball and ping pong player. Laurie touched everyone with her sparkling laugh, spirited energy and beautiful smile. Even at the end people were struck by her beautiful smile that lit up the room. Laurie was kind and thoughtful and always ready to lend a hand to anyone. Laurie passed away with dignity and love just as she had lived. Laurie is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 35 years, Howard and loving son, Matthew. In addition Laurie's life was enriched by her parents; grandparents; many aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and longtime east and west coast friends all of whom she dearly loved. Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Rd., Rockville, MD on Thursday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Garden of Remembrance, Clarksburg, MD. The family will be receiving friends and family immediately following the service at the late residence. Memorial contributions in Laurie's memory may be made to the Frontotemporal Dementia Association.
