On July 22, 2025, Dr. Lawrence G. Hefter of Bethesda, Maryland. Beloved husband of Susan Hefter; devoted father of Jonathan (Lisa) Hefter and Rachel (Josh) Goldstein; brother of Babette Becker; zany Zayde of Talia, Pazia, Meira, and Hannah.

Born in Chicago in 1938, Larry studied medicine at the University of Chicago, before moving to the Washington area where he was a renowned pathologist at Fairfax Hospital for over 30 years. Larry was passionate about all things related to water. His water-related hobbies included underwater photography, windsurfing, and fishing. He also loved moss, hiking with his family in Maine, painting, puns, dancing, and most of all, playing the spoons.

Funeral services will be held on July 24, 2025 1 pm at Judean Memorial Gardens 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney, MD 20832. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation .
