IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lenore
Kalen
October 1, 1930 – November 24, 2023
Lenore Kalen was born on Oct. 1, 1930. Weighing in at 2.5 pounds she was a true Yom Kippur miracle. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ she lived with her parents, Rose and Joseph Kernoff and her sister Marilyn. She grew up with a passion and talent for singing which carried through her life.
Lenore married Eli - the love of her life - and raised their three children (Pam, David and Bruce) in Silver Spring, MD. They worked side by side in their wholesale flower and plant business (Morgan Enterprises), and were involved in local Democratic politics and their synagogue. She continued to be involved in the 21 years she lived in Leisure World with the Jewish Residents of Leisure World and worked as a bookkeeper until she was almost 90.
She loved her children and had their back no matter what. She loved and was very proud of all seven of her grandchildren (Elyse, Seth, Jessica, Stephanie, Jake, Madeline and Kyle). Lenore had a sense of style including a spray of purple in her hair, a big personality and was the kind of person that if you met once you never forgot. She was feisty, spirited, brave and involved. Hopefully she is reunited with Eli and finds a mah jongg group wherever she is now.
