It is with sadness but also grateful remembrance that Mark, Steve, and Felissa Schneider announce the passing of their step-father, Leo Hoch, on November 25, 2025. Leo and his beloved Marilyn had just reached their 50th wedding anniversary this past July, a few days before Marilyn's passing.
Leo and Marilyn met and married in Chicago. They went on to open an upscale clothing boutique on the North Shore, called Le Knack. Together, they enjoyed literature, classical music, continuing education, and travel. They moved to Bethesda twenty-five years ago to be near Mark and his family. The family especially remembers them as loving grandparents who were the center of every family event and Jewish holiday.
Leo (born Ari Nathan) was born in Germany in a displaced persons refugee camp to Holocaust survivors. After the war, the family relocated to Chicago. His mother, Dora Hoch, wrote letters to her congressmen protesting the naturalization of German Nazis as American citizens. Leo was also a college graduate and lover of books. He was a successful entrepreneur and salesman. His last position was with the American Council of Engineering Companies, which presented him with a Distinguished Service Award on July 23rd, 2018. He is survived by his three step-children Mark (Lisa Jo), Steve (Kelly), and Felissa, and seven grandchildren. Leo was a devoted grandfather with a soft spot for his dogs.
Leo and Marilyn are buried together for the ages at historic Rockville Cemetery beneath an Oak tree.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share your remembrances.
