Leslie Train Westreich, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, stepmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Scarsdale, New York, Leslie made the Washington, D.C., area her home for more than 40 years. The beloved matriarch of her family, she was at the heart of bringing generations together and creating the traditions and memories they will carry forward.

She is survived by her deeply loved children, Timothy Landres and Claudia Helmig; her son-in-law, Timothy Helmig; and her grandchildren, Camille, Charlotte, and William “Billy” Helmig, and Megan, Matthew, and Jacob Landres, who were among the greatest joys of her life. She is also survived by her treasured younger sister, Felice Londa. Leslie was not only her beloved older sister, but also her mentor, protector, confidante, and best friend.

She was also a loving stepmother to Lauren, Dana, and Anthony Westreich and his wife, Tanya; and a proud grandmother to Greta and Nathaniel Emerson; Oliver, Kalie, and Quincy Hirt; Max and Gabriel Westreich; and Tobey, Olivia, and Juliette Beyer. She was also a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephew, Jessica and Peter Londa, Emily and Andrea. 

Leslie lived with a rare and radiant sense of her own spirit. She moved through the world on her own terms, embraced each day with zest, and possessed an extraordinary capacity for joy. Generosity was one of Leslie’s defining qualities. Her creative dinners and parties were legendary, as were the playful gifts and unexpected surprises she delighted in leaving for the people she loved.

Leslie brought that same warmth and openness to her career as a therapist and to the many passions that filled her life. She loved golf, decorating, entertaining, the arts, and theater, and deeply valued education and lifelong learning. A generous philanthropist and active member of Woodmont Country Club, she was also a proud club champion. Above all, her family was the center of her life, and there was nothing she would not do for those she loved.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her zany personality, infectious laughter, sharp intellect, boundless generosity, and fierce devotion to her family. Her memory will remain a lasting light in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
