IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lewis Wallace
Bolton
August 25, 1941 – August 16, 2025
We remember Lewis Wallace Bolton, who departed from us on August 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength.
Beloved husband of Sheila (née Merow), and devoted father to Nicole Joslyn, Lewis's love was the heartbeat of their family. He was "Papa Louie" to his granddaughter, Cassandra, whose laughter was his brightest joy. He is also survived by his sister, Helene, his son-in-law, Nicholas, and a circle of nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law who will forever carry his warmth in their hearts.
A lifelong lover of baseball and tennis, Lewis was affectionately known as the "Mayor" of Bentridge Place. In his wallet, he held two treasures: a photograph of his daughter and a quote from Theodore Roosevelt that guided his every step:
"It is not the critic who counts… The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena…"
Those words were more than inspiration—they were a testament to how he lived. Brave, exuberant, and present.
Lewis had a way of making everyone feel seen. His smile could light an entire room, his kindness could soften the hardest days. Though our hearts ache in his absence, his life was a gentle reminder that even small gestures can make all the difference and that it never hurts to make a new friend. May we honor Lewis by carrying that forward.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 19th at 1pm in New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon New York, with a small gathering to follow. The family will sit shiva in Maryland on Thursday from 5pm-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions in Lewis' name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Hadassah .
