IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Browne
August 20, 1945 – May 2, 2021
Linda Browne, of Brookeville, Md., and Bluefields, Jamaica, passed away on May 2, 2021, following a short but intense battle with lymphoma. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elise (& Craig) Hughes and Hali (& Eric) London; her grandchildren, Noah & Ethan Hughes and Madison, Ellis & Natalie London; and extended family and friends in the U.S. and Jamaica.
Linda grew up in Rockville and at the age of 18 married Steve Browne, with whom she shared 55 years of adventures until his sudden death in 2019. A font of knowledge and a natural teacher, Linda loved travel, good food, and nature. Though soft-spoken and gentle, she was fierce in her convictions about equality and justice. She was even fiercer in her love for her family and those who were like family, and was the definition of a devoted grandmother.
An outdoor, appropriately distanced memorial service will be held later in May, if it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
