Lois Mae
Brodsky
Feb 9, 1928 — Jul 11, 2026
Wednesday
Garden of Remembrance Chapel
Starts at 10:00 am (Eastern time)
On July 11, 2026, our mom Lois (nee Badt) Brodsky passed peacefully at the remarkable age of 98, surrounded with love. A proud Washingtonian, she was the oldest daughter of Commodore Harry A. Badt and Jennie Yudelevit Badt. She grew up on various naval bases and with extended family in DC, along with her younger sister Esther Ellen Balsamo. She was 19 when she met the love of her life, Albert Brodsky. They were married a few years later and settled in suburban Maryland where they raised their children – Neil, Joel, and Mimi.
Mom was an independent woman, life-long learner, and lived life to the fullest. She cared about her community and gave her time to many local organizations. Family was her number one passion, but golf was a close second. Her love of warm weather led her and Albert to move to Florida where she could play year-round. She and dad were world travelers and enjoyed many trips with friends sharing a love for good food, history, and art. Her friendships were very meaningful to her and enriched her life, especially after dad passed 28 years ago.
Lois loved family most of all and we will miss her in our lives. She was pre-deceased by her parents, sister, husband, and son Joel Badt Brodsky. She leaves behind her legacy - son Neil Brodsky and wife Renee; daughter Mimi Brodsky Kress and husband Michael; daughter-in-law Cathy Brodsky and husband John Coan; her grandchildren Kevin (Laurie), David (Alison), Kyle (Sara), Lauren (John), Max, Alex (Maggie), Rachel (Conner), Jenna (Eric), and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Funeral will be held 10 am on Wednesday, July 15 at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD, chapel service indoors followed by burial. Shiva will be held Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm with service at 8 pm at the home of Mimi Brodsky Kress and Michael Kress. Donations may be made to JSSA, ACLU or the charity of your choice. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
